Mamie Theresa Dozier

Reflection of Life
Mamie Theresa Curry Dozier was one of five children born to the late Louis and Charity Curry in Washington, D.C. on May 21, 1944. Her siblings included Alvin Beckwith Jr., Josephine Franklin, Edith Curry, and Barbara Smith. Mamie departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 17, 2019.
Mamie Began her spiritual journey at an early age. She was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverent Thomas J. Peyton at Little Ark Baptist Church. She later continued her spiritual growth under the leadership of the now Bishop Clyde Hargraves St. of Greater Little Ark Baptist Church. Mamie sand with the Hargrave Specials and taught Sunday school. She made sure her children were raised i the admiration of Christ. She continued her spiritual journey at the Gethsemane Church of Christ (now Harvest United Ministries, Inc.) under the leadership of the new Bishop John M. Lewis. Mamie was ordained a Minister by Pastor Betty Bowine of God’s Time Ministry. Mamie also was a regular at the family home church, Zion Baptist Church, in Welcome, Maryland.
Mamie was educated in the District of Columbia public schools. She attended Anthony Bowen elementary school and graduated from Baliou Senior High School. Mamie’s professional career was at the Department if Housing and Urban Development (HUD) where she worked over 31 and a half years before retiring.
Truly , a life well lived.
Mamie Dozier leaves to cherish her memory, children, Rhonda Owens, Marcia Cunningham (James), Michael Greene (Shirl); stepson, Lenwood II; grandchildren, Gary Greene, Raenell Green, Mark Greene, Courtney Greene, Marshe Greene, and Jeffera Allen; great-grandchildren, Anthony Dunston, Gary Greene, Jr., Michaela Greene, Lana Greene, Ariel Greene, and Zoe Greene; sisters, Edith Curry and Barbara Smith; God sister, and brothers, Delores Douglas (Larry), Ralph Martin, George “Stanley” Martin, Leon Martin (Sharlene); brothers-in-law, Geoffrey Smith and Winston Franklin; nieces, Karen Johns and Winnettia Lewis (Edwin); nephews, Alvin “Lil Sonny Beckwith, III, Bernard Franklin (Carolyn), David Franklin (Trina), Darrion Smith; great nieces and nephews, Donte Franklin (Nikki), Lewis Franklin (Sherice), Charity Walker (Jacob), Bercari Franklin, Brianna Vanvleet (Bryce), Kierra Franklin, Alexa Howard, and Ariel Brown (Tishawn); God children, Cornell Matthews and Danielle Fisher; cousins, Warren, Baucum, and Hurd Families and a very dear special cousin, Stephen Hurd, and her husband, Lenwood Dozier Sr.
Mamie was preceded in death by her son, Mark Greene, Jr; brother, Alvin “Sonny” Beckwith, Jr., sister Josephine Franklin, God brothers, Joseph and Sidney Martin, sister-in-law, Edith “Sonny’s Edith”Salter, niece, Sharon Smith; great-grandson, Gary Dunkins (Greene), and great nephew, Anthony Franklin.
