Reflection of Life
James Philip Johnson was born to the late Dorothy Gaither Faulkner and the late Joseph Calvin Faulkner crossed over with loved ones near, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 6:38 p.m.
James spent his early years in Detroit, MI where he also attended school. He received his spiritual foundation as a member of Scott Memorial United Methodist Church in Detroit. James later relocated to Capital Heights, MD where he attended Suitland High School and he became a member of Springfield Baptist Church, in Washington, DC. James furthered his education at Barber Scotia College in Concord, NC. He returned to the Washington, DC area to pursue his career in Information Technology (IT). James accepted Christ at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and joined the Men’s Ministry and the Male Chorus.
James was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He loved coaching JV football at Flowers High School and enjoyed supporting his children as the participated in track, football, and basketball. James loved relaxing on his boat and being with relatives and friends. He never met a stranger and enjoyed life. James had a welcoming spirit along with that warm smile. He was always ready to cook on the grill and participate in a crab feast. Let’s not forget cheering on his beloved Redskins!
James leaves to cherish his memory, his four children, Asya Johnson (Pumpkin), James Philip Johnson Jr. (Jay), Zahira Johnson (Zahdi), and Javan Johnson (Vaun); a grandson, (Aden); two sisters, Lauretta Gray (Larnie) and Edwina R. Gray (Weenie); a brother/cousin Pastor K. Samuel Brannon (Keith); Hugh E. Berry, god brother; five nieces, two nephews, one great-nephew and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Avaties Ramone Faulker (Ray).
